Champions League – Quarter Finals Preview

Posted by GamblingIn.co.uk | Sports Betting | Wednesday 28 March 2012 8:55 am

We’re down to the last eight contenders of the 2012 Champions League. With six of the eight teams previous Champions League winners and one a past finalist, we’re looking at some top quality football up ahead. So, gear up and make sure you visit Titan Bet for some of the best football odds around. Here’s a quick look at the next round of match-ups…

APOEL Vs Real Madrid

APOEL have definitely been playing out the Cinderella story so far, but now that they’re up against the giants, that story is likely to come to an abrupt end. Yes, in the magnificent and often surprising game of football, strange things have and will continue to happen, but if we rule out any crazy freak occurrences like aliens landing on the Bernabeu and shooting Ronaldo in the forehead with a lazer-cannon, we’re left with a Real Madrid team one step closer to taking the title.

Benfica VS Chelsea

Imagine winning a game only to be matched up against Barcelona or Milan. That will be the fate of the better team in this epic tie. Benfica and Chelsea are very evenly matched so this may turn out to be the most entertaining game of the round. Under new manager Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea have been enjoying a comeback of sorts. Their victory against Napoli will have given them a boost of confidence while the knowledge of Ramires and David Luiz with regards to the Portuguese team will add to that advantage. Still, Benfica have performed outstandingly throughout this Champions League competition and will be motivated to take the title for the third time. With superb players like Ezequiel Garay and Alex Witsel on the field, Benfica pose a real threat to Chelsea, especially when we take into account their past successes against English sides.

Marseille VS Bayern Munich

While not as much as a walkover as APOEL-Madrid promises to be, this one should be quite easily wrapped up by the Bavarians. Marseille have heavily relied on their defense line to pull them through the competition and with Mandanda and Diawara out, that defense line may become a mere formality for Mario Gomez who is currently holding 18 goals from 14 of his last Champions League matches. Valbuena is a talented player, but he’ll have to play like Messi on speed to turn this one around.

AC Milan VS FC Barcelona

The Catalans are the favourites here, once again, but if Milan have been hoping for a chance to cause an upset when it counts, that chance has arrived. Barcelona are in the superb form we’ve become accustomed to and their lineup includes not one, but a healthy dose of some of the best footballers in the world. Milan has experienced a slump in recent years but have managed to turn things around recently and are playing some great football. With the likes of Boateng, Ibrahimovic and Robinho upfront, Milan are by no means an easy team to beat. To summarize, this one promises to be a real nail-biter!
